Chris was born in Hays, and his family has roots in the community extending back over 60 years. His grandfather was a professor at Fort Hays State University, and his grandmother was involved in the public schools system for over 60 years as a teacher and substitute. His mom has lived in Ellis County nearly her whole life, and is currently a music teacher at Fort Hays State University. Chris graduated from Hays High School, playing basketball all four years and was involved in many school activities. 

Chris believes in Ellis County and its ability to thrive. Chris and his wife have worked in the oil and gas industry for over two decades, including advocating for the industry before numerous local government bodies. Chris has extensive experience with county governments, including land-use and zoning, budgeting, and economic development. Chris and Sarah moved back to Hays because this the community they love and want to call home. Chris is running for County Commissioner because he has seen first hand the importance of local government, and what it can do for citizens.
